How to Lose Weight

How to Lose weight

Long Term Weight loss Not weighed your self in a while then all of a sudden just happen to walk past a pair of scales and then OMG! Not noticed the pounds creeping on, thought that tight pair of jeans or that favourite top had had one wash too many then what do you do fad diets, eat less, miss meals the trouble is all actions have an opposite reaction, if we start missing meals our bodies go into survival mode and then everytime we eat something our body stores it as fat because it doesn’t know when the next time it is going to get any sustenance.

Diets and Dieting

So losing weight is a lot more than just missing a few meals, there is no magic pill that is going to makes us lose 2 stone in 2 weeks quick fix diets may work in the short term but once the diet is over the weight comes crashing back on, with diets we also need to incorporate some regular exercise because exercise burns calories and speeds up our metabolism.

Dieting is not about missing meals, its about eating regular, eating smaller portions, changing some of the bad things that we eat for a more healthier option, taken at its most basic level long term weight loss is about calories in versus calories out, if we burn more calories than we eat weight will come off, a mature adult male needs 2500 calories a day and a women needs 2000 calories a day and most of us who are over weight probably exceed our daily calorie intake.

How to lose weight

Losing weight is simple but not necessarily easy it takes a bit of will power and some lifestyle changes. We need educating in the right foods to eat, some of the foods we eat are ok but we probably need to think about how we cook them, maybe bake them instead of frying them cutting out excess fat, steaming instead of boiling keeping in more nutrients, eating smaller portions but more often which keeps our digestive system working which is burning more calories, an old wives tales that is true “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it starts your metabolism working early on and as soon as it starts we are burning calories.

Adding exercise is another lifestyle change we need to make, the trouble is the more overweight we are the harder it is to exercise, and the minimum we should do is 30 minutes a day and the easiest one is to start walking more, walking is good for us because it tones and strengthens the legs, burns calories and if we start to walk faster is good for our cardiovascular system, maybe get a bicycle, not been on one for years, get one you’ll be surprised just how rewarding and fun it can be, it doesn’t matter how old or overweight you are get a skipping/jump rope its cheap, easy to learn, do it in your back yard, great calorie burner and a great cardio exercise. When you feel a bit better about yourself start visiting a gymnasium.
